Today Glenn Arbour Academy's grade's 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8s were visited by the CEO of the Step by Step: Torch of Life foundation. George Marcello spoke to students about the importance of organ donation while sharing his own personal survival story. After having his life saved by an anonymous liver donation, Marcello decided to walk across Canada in gratitude to his donor's family as well as to raise awareness for organ donation. Students were given the opportunity to ask some questions regarding organ donation and Marcello's personal experiences with the Torch of Life walks around Canada. He explained that the torch itself was blessed by Pope John Paul II and students had an opportunity to pass it around as well as take some photos with it! Remember to ask any lingering questions you have about organ donation in your science class!
