Release the Salmon!

Last week, GAA students bid farewell to the salmon in our classroom hatchery.  On a beautiful spring morning at Lowville Park, they released 94 salmon into Bronte Creek with the assistance from fish biologist Chris of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.  Each student had the opportunity to release at least one salmon (but not before giving it a name) into the creek where they will spend the next two years prior to heading out to Lake Ontario.  As Chris mentioned, “Our work does not end here.  We must continue to keep the environment habitable in order for the salmon to survive.”
