Olympic Fever

Olympic Fever!

GAA celebrated our very own Olympic Opening  Ceremonies this morning.  Students walked into the gym with the Olympic Anthem playing. Highlanders were adorned with flags, face paint, hats, and crazy hair, as well as being dressed in clothing to match the colours of the country they have been studying. All of them representing each country with pride! Parents, friends and family members cheered each country on!  Our Olympic Commissioner….Coach, had a student representative from each grade (JK-8), read the Athlete’s Olympic Oath. Lots of enthusiasm and excitement during opening!  Athletes from the girls U10 and U12 Cross Country Teams were recognized and awarded a certificate from Coach for winning a banner in these categories!  Well done girls, we are very proud of you.

The excitement continued as our Highlanders watched the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Sochi at exactly 20:14pm.  We are looking forward to updates over the course of the Olympics from Mr. Baker on how our Canadian athletes are doing. We are also anticipating our own Olympic sports that Coach has planned for us during gym classes…speed skating in the gym, that will be interesting!

Go Canada!!!!
