Intramurals

Over the past few weeks, Glenn Arbour Academy students have had the opportunity to take part in a school wide intramural program.  Students took part in a modified hockey tournament as players of one of the original six NHL hockey teams. Through good sportsmanship and competitive play, students created a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all involved.  The final round in the tournament saw the Toronto Maple Leafs playing the Montreal Canadiens for the Intramural Modified Hockey Championship.  After an intense back and forth game, Toronto came out on top.   All players should be commended on their excellent sportsmanship and team work!

Soccer

Throughout the month of May, Glenn Arbour Academy Highlanders have taken part in outdoor soccer tournaments for elementary boys and under 12 co-ed age groups.  In the elementary tournament, the boys travelled to Aurora and played many challenging and competitive schools.  They were able to win one game but lost by only one or two goals in all other matches. With limited number of grade 7 and 8 members, the team performed very well against other teams who only had grade 8 players.  Good job boys!

The under 12 co-ed team travelled to Markham to play in extremely hot weather. With only 3 substitution players, each team member experienced long shifts and tiring games.  They were defeated by the 1st place team in their first game but came back to tie the second and come out with a win in their third game.  This win put them into the quarter finals.  With the game tied and time running out in the last half, both teams pushed for the win.  Unfortunately, a hard, high kick went in with only minutes left in the game.  This loss placed the team in 7th out of 16 teams. Great effort Glenn Arbour!
